Chicago-area five-piece Plain White T's spent nearly a decade on the road playing a fast-paced brand of pop punk before success rained down in the form of an unlikely but massive hit. "Hey There Delilah," originally recorded for the band's 2005 sophomore release, featured Tim Higgenson singing a plaintive ode to a distant love over a spare guitar part. The song became a regional hit, but it wasn't until 2007 that the song--rereleased as the second single for their major label debut, EVERY SECOND COUNTS--climbed to number one. Against the odds, the midwest troupe were able to sustain pop stardom through subsequent singles.
