About Fan Tsung-pei
Known as a genius of incidental music and master of the cello and songwriting, Fan Tsung-pei first learned the violin as a youth before making the transition to the cello. He began to accumulate the capacity to write and arrange music during his time as a student. After finishing school, he played with Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra for nine years and was the first chair cellist.

Ever since beginning to actively work in musical creation, Fan Tsung-pei has participated in songwriting, arranging, and performing for the music of countless films, TV dramas, theater productions, and music albums. He is one of the very few musicians who have won Golden Melody, Golden Bell, Golden Horse, and Asian pacific Film Festival awards. His more well-known pieces the music for Cold Nights, Once upon a Time, Crystal Boys, Dana Sakura, and Where the Wind Settles. In recent years, he has created music for theater productions such as the Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe’s Pu’ing. Some of his own albums include Colors of Water, Story, The Dance of Cherry Blossoms, The Sea of Seven Stars, A Misunderstanding, Longing for the Unforgettable Spring Breeze, and A Time of Elegance.

Fan’s delicate, heart-moving style casually wanders within classical, new age, jazz, and pop forms in playful creativity. Recently, his rearrangements of traditional folk songs, classical pieces, and pop hits have brought about a new wave of popularity in a distinct, touching musical symbol of the times.
