歐洲合唱團Europe/倒數計時The Final Countdown

EUROPE 組團經過

1978年,貝斯手Peter Olsson,吉他手John Norum與鼓手Tony Reno三人組成一個叫做"Force"的搖滾樂團,這支樂團可說是EUROPE的前身,不久,Joey Tempest離開"Roxanne"並加入"Force",成為該團的主唱.

Joey Tempest是一位相當具有才華的作詞作曲家1981年,Peter Olsson離開Force,Joey Tempest暫代貝斯手一職,直到他們找到另一位貝斯手John Leven,1982年,Thomas Erdtman(後來成為歐洲合唱團的經紀人)安排他們參加一個名為ROCK SM的瑞典搖滾樂大賽,結果受到唱片公司的注意,並安排製作了卡帶,而這張卡帶包含有The King Will Return, Seven Doors Hotel,Rock On, Children Of This Time and Paradize Bay等歌曲,由於他們這幾位團員都是來自歐洲,於是決定將原來的Force改為EUROPE,並獲得唱片公司的首肯,發行了第一張專輯,專輯名稱就叫Europe,專輯發行後,Europe的名聲很快就風靡歐洲,在經紀人的安排下,他們在瑞典展開巡迴演唱.

演唱過程中,一位日本籍的娛樂記者在瑞典當地買了Europe的專輯後,驚為天人,於是把Europe的消息帶回日本,後來果然造成日本的轟動,Europe就這樣輕鬆的打入日本市場.

1984年,第二張專輯Wings of Tomorrow趁勝追擊,這張專輯再創銷售佳績,專輯內包含Open YourHeart與Dreamer兩首暢銷單曲,由於Joey在樂團裡是擔任主唱兼鍵盤手的工作,在演唱會時比較無法掌握整個會場的氣氛,所以他們決定再找一名鍵盤手,於是Mic Micchaeli加入了Europe,成為歐洲合唱團的第五名團員,不過事隔沒多久,鼓手Tony Reno因故離開Europe,他們於是找了Ian Haugland來頂替他的位置,至此歐洲合唱團的團員人事問題終告底定,並開始展開另一場歐洲巡迴演唱,在這段期間,Joey又寫了兩首名曲Rock the Night與Broken Dreams,這兩首歌後來被收錄在The Final Countdown這張專輯內.

1986年,The Final Countdown誕生,這也是Europe銷售成績最佳的一張專輯,總共賣了七百萬張,同年九月,Europe前往日本開演唱會,再掀起一陣旋風.
就在歐洲合唱團成為國際知名搖滾樂團之際,John Norum基於他自己另有一番想法而告別了Europe,於是他們又找了Kee Marcello來接替John Norum的吉他手位置,新加入的Kee Marcello表現果然並沒有讓大家失望,成功的在歐洲各國巡迴演唱會中有相當稱職的表現.

1987年,Europe正式進入美國市場,他們的單曲The Final Countdown以非常快的速度爬升到告示牌排行第八名,Europe在美國的巡迴演唱從舊金山開始展開,共走遍了二十三個城市,他們也是1979年以來,繼ABBA後第一支足跡遍及全美國的瑞典團體了,與他們同行的還有Def Leppard,在這段旅行途中,單曲Superstitious誕生,這首歌後來收錄在他們下一張專輯"Out Of This World".

1988年,第四張專輯"Out Of This World"發行,Europe也隨著新專輯的問世,回到歐洲進行促銷,這張專輯在歐洲的成績依然不惡,但在美國的成績就差了些,這張專輯還收錄了Open Your Heart的新版本,同年十一月,Europe再展開世界巡迴演唱,演唱會幾乎場場爆滿,記得那時他們也來到台灣,造成不小的震撼,顯示Europe在樂迷的心中還是有相當的份量,1990年,他們前往南美及亞洲開演唱會,這好像也是Europe二度來台灣開演唱會.

Europe的第五張專輯"Prisoners in paradise"一直到1991年才發行,經紀人也從原來的Thomas Erdtman換成Herbie Herbert據說這張專輯之所以會拖這麼久才問世,是因為唱片公司希望Europe能多寫些軟性的歌曲,不要有太多重節奏的歌曲,不過很明顯的是,曲風改變後的Europe似乎已不被樂迷所接受,這張專輯的銷售情況遠不如前幾張專輯,之後,Europe再與Metallica進行世界巡迴演唱.

1992年,Europe幾乎呈休息狀態,這也是Europe分裂的前兆,於是Joey與John Norum共事,1993年,Joey展開他個人演唱生涯,並在1995年發行他個人專輯,1997年又發行第二張個人專輯,同樣的,團員中的John Lev與Kee Marcello也開始進行各自的演藝事業,其中Kee在1996年發行他個人專輯,Ian Haugland後來與Mic,John將Europe的過去紀錄下來,發行了他們最後一張專輯,也就是1982-1992這張精選輯,為Europe的光榮歷史劃下句點.

團員介紹

Joey tempest 原名Joaquim Larsson,瑞典籍,生於1963年8月19日,1979年即加入歐洲合唱團,為該團的主唱.

Mic Michaeli 原名Mathias Michaeli,生於1962年11月11日,1984年加入歐洲合唱團,為該團的鍵盤手.

Ian Haugland 原名Hakan Ian Haugland ,挪威籍,生於1964年8月13日,1984年加入歐洲合唱團,替代離團的Tony Reno,為該團的鼓手.

Kee Marcello 原名Kjell Hilding Lofvon,瑞典籍,生於1960年2月20日,1985年加入歐洲合唱團,替代離團的John Norum,為該團的吉他手.

John norum 本名就叫做John norum,挪威籍,生於1964年2月23日,1979年加入歐洲合唱團,為該團的吉他手

John Leven 1981年加入歐洲合唱團,為該團的貝斯手.

Tony Reno 生於1963年2月10日,1979年加入歐洲合唱團,為該團的鼓手.

來自瑞典的EUROPE共出了五張專輯與一張精選輯,但是他們在第三張專輯"The Final Countdown"的表現最為驚人"The Final Countdown"這張專輯造就了他們在國際樂壇上難以撼搖的地位的,因為這張專輯裡的音樂最能代表Europe.
