The elders often say, "Enough is enough." This phrase encapsulates the essence of "Gaya." The practice of sharing and bartering highlights the sustainable way of life cherished by the tribe. In the face of today's turbulent society, where policies change rapidly, how can we find inner peace and navigate through life's storms? How can we stay steadfast in our beliefs? Yoku Walis, through her five years of life experiences and reflection on ancestral wisdom, offers her insights.
Socrates once said, "Contentment is natural wealth, desire is artificial poverty." Yoku, taking this as a starting point, uses "Sneaky Pila Pila" as a vehicle to explore the complexities of human nature. The song examines the interplay between material possessions and the spirit, and offers a reflection on human greed and desire.
In addition to the breakthrough in musical style, Yoku Walis takes on the role of producer for the first time. Using the music and lyrics she likes. Moreover, the single also incorporates the most authentic daily expressions of the Seejiq tribe, "Traq, Aq". 賽德克族歌手Yoku Walis幽谷．瓦歷斯 跨界音樂傳承文化
Yoku Walis 幽谷．瓦歷斯來自南投仁愛鄉廬山部落的賽德克族，跨足演唱、主持等領域。2019年，幽谷發行首張全創作專輯《消失的幽谷》，專輯中融合了現代流行音樂元素與傳統賽德克族音樂。幽谷將自身化為逐漸逝去的文化，於是積極傳達部落的語言文化，同時也以新浪潮音樂形式詮釋族語，重新吟出賽德克的悠揚歷史。

Seejiq singer Yoku Walis is blending different musical genres to keep her culture alive
Yoku Walis, a Seejiq singer from Alang Bwarung, the village of Bwarung, in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, has made significant contributions to both the music and hosting industries. In 2019, she released her full-length debut album, “The Vanishing Valley,” which seamlessly blends contemporary pop elements with traditional Seejiq music. By embodying the fading culture, Yoku actively promotes her tribe's language and customs while reinterpreting them through popular music. She has successfully brought the tuneful history of the Seejiq people to a wider audience.
Having spent a decade honing her craft as a trainee, Yoku has blossomed into a music producer, unveiling a new side of herself in her latest track, "Sneaky Pila Pila."
