In 8 years of work, Taiwanese-Canadian LEO37 has amassed a formidable resume boasting accolades comparable to many industry veterans – and he’s done so independently. 3 solo albums, 3 digital releases, numerous studio collaborations and hundreds of performances in packed houses through 11 countries, if anything, it’s LEO37′s live experience that has really set him apart from the pack. Having toured around: Canada, the U.S., the U.K., the Netherlands, 7 countries through South East Asia, being featured at the: TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Wreckhouse International Jazz & Blues Festival, Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, Spring Scream (Taiwan), Fulong Rock Festival(Taiwan), Daniel Pearl Day (Taiwan), Taichung Jazz Festival and NXNE, as well as sharing stages with the likes of: Aloe Blacc, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon of the Wu Tang Clan, Swollen Members, the Bad Plus, etc. it would appear independence isn’t such a bad thing after all.
A co-founder of the Blast (Taipei), PPF House (Toronto) and Taiwan’s most exciting night of live music,#DYWM (a.k.a. Do You Want More?!), LEO37 is currently working on a brand new EP with Toronto’s veteran beatsmith, DJ Agile (Brassmunk, Big Black Lincoln, Nas, Method Man, The Main Ingredient). With a fall release date, it seems we’ll be hearing from LEO37 quite a bit in 2014. Be it as a solo performer, a producer or a turntablist, his range is deep and diverse, offering forth a smart, danceable and utterly unique soundtrack for our times.
