No More Concerts For Karen Mok? She Wants To Sign A Band & Do Musicals
Hong Kong singer Karen Mok dropped a bomb on the Singapore media on Monday. She will be retiring from concert touring after her ongoing tour, The Ultimate Karen Mok Show, which marks her 25 years in showbiz.
"There won't be another large scale pop concert like this. This will be the last of its kind in Singapore," says Mok at a press conference to promote her upcoming concert in Singapore on June 15.This means it's your final chance to catch the pop diva performing in a mega concert production.

It's not goodbye to show business, she assures: "I'm not retiring. My life's mission is to perform. I'm going to enter the second half of my life. It's time to give you guys a surprise."
If her life was like the Super Bowl, she has played an exciting game so far.
Since debuting in 1993, Mok has released more than 30 albums, acted alongside Stephen Chow, Takeshi Kaneshiro andKeanu Reeves. She also collecteda few trophies along the way, from the prestigious Golden Melody Awards to the Hong Kong Film Awards.
On the personal front, she proved fairy tales do exist in reality by wedding her first love in 2011.
Changes clearly excite this flamboyant butterfly, Mok is bursting with excitement when talking about future plans. She dreams of creating a musical scene in our region.
"I think musicals are the most challenge to perform. You have to dance, act, sing live, every night. It's tough. I would watch a lot of musicals during my years in London. I auditioned for Miss Saigon," says Mok wistfully.
"For our industry here, we really should have our own form of musical theatre. London has West End, New York has Broadway. The greater China area can have its own version of Broadway. I hope I can do something to make something like this happen one day."
Grooming new talent is also on her mind. The versatile artiste recently added another title to her resume — the boss of the record label Mok-A-Bye BabyRecords. She set up the label in partnership with Sony last year.
"I'm looking for someone with talent, passion. My wish is to be able to sign a band. If you know of any young kids on the block. Let me know," says Mok.
Aspiring musicians listen up. Here's the one quality Mok which will catch her eye: a genuine love for music.
Speaking from her personal experience, she says: "You've got to sincerely love music. If you want to get into the music industry to get famous, it will be tough for you."
That's what keeps Mok going for 25 years and counting.
