Singers Tay Kewei & Alfred Sim Expecting Baby No. 2, Release New Song For Firstborn Mo Mo
One of Singapore's trendiest toddler Mo Mo is going to be a big brother. The eldest son of singer couple Tay Kewei and Alfred Sim will have a new sibling in June.
Speaking to KKBOX, Kewei said: “I don’t think if he knows exactly what is in store for him, but he knows that he needs to treat a baby with gentle care. When there are babies around us, he'd play peekaboo with them. He will also comfortthemwhen the babies cry.“
The celebrity couple made the announcement today through the music video for their new song, Mo Mo I Love You.
The heartwarming duet is dedicated to their son, whose nickname is Mo Mo. It's a play on the Chinese phrase, 'Silently Loving You'.Listen to Mo Mo Ai Zhe Ni on KKBOX
The celebrity couple share with us the creative process behind writing the song for Mo Mo andwhether they have a nickname for their second child.
What went through your mind when you penned the lyrics for Mo Mo Ai Zhe Ni?
It’s so difficult to write this song for our son because it had to be perfect, nothing less.
There’s so much we want to say, but distilling all those emotions into lyrics was really challenging.
In the end, we are so happy with how the song turned out, and I believe they are the words that every parent wants to tell their child.
Mo Mo has heard the song so many times that he can sing quite abit of the song.
Congratulations on expecting your second kid! How did Mo Mo react to the news?
Yes! Before we found out the gender, we kept asking if he wanted a di di (younger brother) or mei mei (younger sister). His answer keeps changing! I don’t think if he knows exactly what is in store for him, but he knows that he needs to treat a baby with gentle care.
How did you discover you were pregnant with your second child?
Although we were planning to have a baby, we didn’t really follow the schedule properly. So, this news came as a surprise! We were particularly busy the day I discovered I was pregnant.
I couldn't wait to tell Alfred, but he was busy with work and couldn't meet me for lunch.
By the time I could tell him, we were having a late dinner after our radio interview.
I eventually told him at a crowded dim sum restaurant and the waitress kept interrupting us! I wanted to capture his reaction so I couldn’t film him in the car, and I had to wait till our late dinner. He was equally surprised but we were so happy!

How do you guys feel being second-time parents? Any hopes for a boy or girl?
It’s so different this time around. The first pregnancy I did so much research and sought advice from so many friends, but this time around I already know what’s in store.Since I’m focused on caring for Momo, time just seems to fly! I don’t have much expectations, but a girl would be nice.
Do you have any nicknames in mind for the second child?
Not at the moment. We can’t think of one to top Momo’s nickname :)
