來自花蓮的子弟ForTune a.k.a.福春已經有超過10年的音樂資歷。從年少輕狂時的Nu Metal，到chill da dog的IDM/實驗電子，然後Ganjah Age的Dub-Electronica，也代表著在音樂創作上的野心與精進。累積了足夠的團體能量，最後走向個人製作這一塊在國外是稀鬆平常的事情，但在台灣還真是少數。對於音樂的品味總是不設限的福春，我們可以很輕易的想像出個人作品的多樣性。把玩的樂器也從最早的吉他到analog樂器與純digital的laptop，這樣全能的音樂創作者相信會有高超的sense。

今年剛成立的電子獨立廠牌Slot Machine Records展現了強烈的企圖心，才創立沒多久就推出了ForTune的首張4首歌EP 《7 Days》。福春融合了相當多的曲風與元素，打造出驚為天人的處女座。第一首〈7 Days〉開頭的大鼓複點與暗沉的感覺令人印象深刻，適時加入的Dub音效不過小小展現了在Ganjah Age的修行成果。接著的House節拍讓歌曲進入不同的層次，背景充滿了90的Rave音色，帶領大家回到了電子音樂的精華時期。尤其是Acid元素的加入，更增添懷舊感。歌曲的起承轉合掌握得恰到好處，而編曲的細微程度也不得不對他另眼相看。合成器開頭的〈Murda〉依舊保有著90音色，不過變成了碎拍，又是不同的感覺。音樂部份疊不少層，卻又巧妙且毫無縫隙的接合在一起，不禁佩服起福春的創作與製作功力。〈If U Like〉有著陰沉的起頭，帶點碎拍有著Burial的味道，外加女vocal的取樣越聽又越有Breakage的風味。中段的4/4拍節奏轉換更是堪稱一絕，氛圍也隨之轉變。”Drunken Butterfly”的House節拍與明亮的音色，帶來猶如〈Star Guitar〉的開朗作品，有種豁達的心理滿足感。

整張EP聽下來，可以聽出他旺盛的創作力與將不同年代的音色與節奏共冶一爐的超強功力，拍子與情緒的轉換更是聆聽重點。以搖滾樂團為起點一路走來，累積的實力不容小覷，在《7 Days》中發揮到極致，也為台灣的電子音樂場景注入了強心針。

ForTune hails from Hualien and has been playing music for more than 10 years. From nu metal to IDM and experimental beats with chill da dog, then dub-electronica with Ganjah Age, the process presents his ambition and improvement in making music. After accumulating sufficient energy for creativity, he decided to be a solo artist. His music taste contains wide range, so we can imagine the multiplicity of his works easily. From live instrumentation to analog and digital equipments, this talented musician must have excellent sense.

This year, the brand new electronic indie label Slot Machine Records just launched, but they show us their strong attempts. Just months later, they are releasing Fortune`s 4-song EP 7 Days. He associates with different music styles and elements to achieve his amazing debut. The beats and dark ambience makes opening song “7 Days” really impressed, ForTune also adds some dub effects in the right time, just presents his little special ability in Ganjah Age. Then house beats strike out, lead us into different state. Its `90s rave sounds especially acid tones take us back to the good time of electronic music. His songs has their complete structures, and the moods are well-established. The subtle arrangement that he shows us is just one of his characters. “Murda” was opened by synthesizer, it remains the same `90s tones as prior, but the rhythm becomes breakbeat, then the atmosphere changes immediately. Each work is composed by many layers but they stick together seamless. His production skills and ideas make him the one who we should keep an eye on. The first half of “If U Like” sounds like Burial + Breakage, the second half turns into 4/4, the mood changes again. The house beats and bright tones in “Drunken Butterfly” remind us “Star Guitar”, so that makes your soul open-minded and fulfilled.

This EP can totally shows his vigorous creativity and the super skills that combine diverse tones and rhythms from different era, the variations of beats and ambience is also what we should focus on. From rock musician to producer, he has more power more than we think and drives the full speed in his first try. This EP also can stimulates electronic music scene in Taiwan, hope you enjoy.
