It was the beginning of 2011, I was fascinated by all kinds of dream analysis books. I would record and analyze my dreams on a daily basis, both as an attempt to better understand myself; and also so I could analyze dreams of girls I would meet, half-assing it really. Aside from all the other benefits I got from this research, I was inspired to create a collection of dream-related songs, jazz songs of course, played by a quartet. What I attempted to depict was the way dreams make people feel. I wanted to provoke images and a certain vibe in the listener. Furthermore, I wanted to seamlessly connect the song titles to the music itself. All the pieces were finished in the summer of the same year, pieces that reflect commonly reoccurring themes in dreams: death, memories, absurdity, time-space-incontinuuity. Also, they display some very personal feelings and my odd sense of humor. REM Moods is a collection of a number of tunes of fantasy, each with its own story and romance.
