NYC’S SKATERS TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM ON FEBRUARY 25, 2014

New York indie-rock outfit SKATERS will finally release their full-length debut, MANHATTAN on February 25, 2014.

The band, with Michael Ian Cummings on vocals, Noah Rubin on drums, Joshua Hubbard on Guitar and Dan Burke on Bass is a garage rock band who have been musically influenced by the melodic punk bands of the 70's and 80's like The Cars, The Ramones and The Pixies.

MANHATTAN is a perfectly fine album. It is tenacious; the guitars chug along at great speed, the melodies have plenty of pop sensibilities and the vocals of Michael Ian Cummings is a comforting presence.

Skaters can also produce substantial tunes that can leave a lasting impression. Miss Teen Massachusetts’s wailing chorus is simply infectious. To Be Young is an example of Skaters at their most leisured, when they’re more than happy to lean back on the past, with the chorus is so strong it doesn’t matter. Every now and then there are flourishes of extra instrumentation, such as the bar-room piano that helps to drive To Be Young and the very ’80s-sounding electronic drums that complement the opening bass line of I Wanna Dance very well.
