Julianna is a film composer from Taiwan. She began studying in classical music from a young age for being trained as a cellist and a pianist. At age of 16, she was impressed and touched by watching the film “Cinema Paradiso.” It became a turning point in her life; she decided to devote all her efforts to be a composer scoring for film and multimedia since then. She later first time trying to write her own music, and even got an opportunity to compose for a school musical. She hopes to bring influence to people, just like what the film brought to her.

After graduating from National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan, she decided to broaden her horizon. In 2012, she went to the program Scoring for Film and Multimedia at New York University to pursue her master of music. She had been studying under Ira Newborn, Rich Shemaria, Joseph Church and Mark Suozzo. Moreover, being inspired by New York City’s vast cultural diversity, she eagerly sought opportunities to collaborate with various artists, because she was obsessed with the sparkling moments appearing beyond boundaries when collaborators discuss their thoughts and ideas. Thus, her music works include not only film scores, but also modern dance, theatre, game, art installation, etc. Many of her works have been performed, selected, nominated for festivals, and even won awards.

Having been influenced by various music genres such as classical music, jazz, pop, alternative bands, traditional Chinese tunes and so on, she dedicates herself to integrate those touching elements to create her own unique style, hoping to exactly convey what she perceives to people. Besides, from her experiences of traveling abroad, she begins considering her role as an artist, and starts to fuse Eastern and Western sounds into harmony. She’s never satisfied with what she has learned, and still looking forward to discovering more possibilities and potentials in the great big world of music.
