THE SxPLAY, influenced by her rock and roll loving father, was awoken to music in middle school. At the age of 17 (as a high school sophomore), she competed with over 1000 contestants and took the grand prize at a national vocalist audition run by a major record label. 

Passing the audition prompted her to move to Tokyo at the age of 18. 

She made her debut in April 2009 with a mini-album, “KIMI NI OKURU UTA”, which got several million downloads. She was highly praised for her life-size messages of truth, her pop yet folky melodies, and her clear and powerful vocals. 

Her second maxi-single, “KIMI GA IRUKARA”, was released in December and was used as the theme song and insert song for “FINAL FANTASY XIII”. 

THE SxPLAY released her “SUNAO NI NARENAKUTE” maxi-single in May 2010. It was used as the insert song for the Fuji TV drama of the same name and surpassed 800,000 downloads. 

In November 2013, she held a member exclusive Mobile fan club “CHAO!CREW” “one-man” show and announced the end of her activities as “Sayuri Sugawara”. 

After changing her artist name to THE SxPLAY on March 30, she started her music activities as an independent artist. 

THE SxPLAY released her first mini-album, “Call To Action” on May 28. 

She played her first “one-man” concert as THE SxPLAY at Shibuya eggman on July 12. 

In December, she went on a “MUSIC PARADE” joint tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka with Yasuha Kominami. They sold a venue-exclusive CD, titled ”Lost Castle”, under the name of THE SxPLAY & Yasuha Kominami. 

THE SxPLAY released her second mini-album in the autumn of 2015. 

In May 2016, THE SxPLAY performed at “Rayark Concert” in Shanghai Himalaya Center as her first time to perform around the world.

In July, she succeeded her first foreign one-man show at Voez Café of Rayark Inc. in Taipei, Taiwan.

In September, “Mikansei- Canvas” was selected as an official theme song for “Paralym Art 2016-2017".

THE SxPLAY’s latest songs, “Kimi ga Nokoshita Sekai de” and “Guardian” were included in “Deemo ver.2.4”, downloaded more than one hundred thousand times becoming the most popular smartphone application of music rhythm game all over the world. 

“Kimi ga Nokoshita Sekai de” ranked in first of Japanese new songs’ chart for 2 weeks in “Kugou Music”, a well known music download service used by more than 6 billion people in China. 

From the end of October to the end of the second month over the first overseas tour in Beijing, Chongqing, Changsha, Chengdu, Wuhan, Guangzhou six cities in China, it will be over in a great success.

In November, THE SxPLAY performed at “Ragnarok Online Concert” in Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall.

In May, THE SxPLAY made a guest appearance in V.K (from Taiwan) Bandai Namco Shanghai Base show of his China tour.

In July, THE SxPLAY performed at “China Joy Live 2017" for the first time, which is the wold’s largest game and anime EXPO held in Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

In September, THE SxPLAY performed at “Rayark Concert 2017” in Beijing Star Live, sponsored by Rayark Inc., which is well known as a game creation company, such as the popular music game “Deemo”.

In November, ”Bokuha Robotgoshino Kimini Koiwosuru (I fall in love with you through a robot)” was limitedly digital released as a theme song of anime PV for ”Bokuha Robotgoshino Kimini Koiwosuru (I fall in love with you through a robot)”, which is a novel by Yusuke Yamada. This jumped onto the Japan Viral 50 Charts on Spotify and hit #3.

In December, THE SxPLAY appeared with an orchestra as a main vocalist at “Rayark Con 2017” held in Taiwan Neo Studio. 

Also, performed at “World Tree Fantasy Music Festival” held in Shenzen  Window of the World, which was her first countdown show in China.

In February 2018, THE SxPLAY’s song was selected to be a theme song for the new game ”Chanje” by Jump Inc. which is well known as game creation of popular game in China “Heroes”.

Her music will include several genres such as pop, rock, classical and dance. THE SxPLAY is currently expanding her world in a playful way.
